Tips for Taking Care of Emo Hair in 2011

Emo hair, like scene hair, goes through a beating. It is frequently straightened, frequently styled, and just beat up in general. So how do you best take care of your hair?

Emo Hair Dark & Blonde

Well, first of all, you need to keep it clean. For those with oily or greasy hair no matter whether hair is short or long, your hair needs to be washed every day with a good shampoo. If you dye your hair, then make sure that the shampoo you are using accommodates that. You don’t need to over-condition your hair. For oily hair, use 1/3 conditioner to every whole of shampoo. Pretty much, you should use a lot less conditioner just to give your hair a little bit of softness. Or, if your hair gets dry when cleaned and oily when not, then you can condition your hair, let it sit while you wash everything else, rinse it with clean water, and then wash your hair once or twice, depending on your needs. If you have short hair or medium hair, it should be washed pretty frequently as well. If your hair is long, every other day works, but make sure to get all of your hair during the washing.

Next, if you are going to straighten it, try and get a protective smoothing serum. Redkin makes a nice one that smells amazing. If you do not like Redkin products, find one that you like better. You may also need to invest (aka ask your mom and dad for one for Christmas) in a good straightener. Now, you COULD go to the thrift store for a temporary solution, but the chances of finding a good, decent-working straightener are almost nil.

Emo Boy Hairstyle

Last, give your hair breaks. It doesn’t need to be spiked up every day or teased every day—this can actually damage your hair. Just once or twice, maybe more if you need it, a week works.

I have really curly hair as well but I still manage to pull off the straight look I need by flat ironing it. Its important that you use a thermal protection product if you do that though, also choose the right products for you hair ( don’t get defrizzers for staight hair if you hairs naturally curly ect..) also when using styling products less is more so instead of spraying half a can of hair spray just use a few squirts and then use a comb or your hand to spread it to the other parts of your hair :) hope this helps
